Hiring of Reno city administrator tabled for future meeting

For two-and-a-half years, Reno has been without a city administrator. For many communities, an administrator or city manager works to turn a city council’s vision for its community into a reality. Everything from implementing policies, advising the council, handling finances and managing personnel falls into this official’s purview.

Reno has gone without someone to oversee its daily operations since the retirement of former administrator Scott Passmore in February 2023. This week, the city was set to fill the role but the action was ultimately postponed by its council.

In a June 30 meeting, Mayor Hector Bas was the tiebreaker on a split vote to table the agenda item at the request of the city’s attorney.
