State overreach threatens Springtown’s ability to properly plan for the future

In what should have been a session focused on partnership and support for communities, the 89th Texas Legislature instead delivered a masterclass in state overreach, stripping away the autonomy of cities under the guise of housing affordability and economic development.

What this session delivered was a legislative tidal wave of preemption, micromanagement and unfunded mandates that undercut local authority across the board.
