Walnut Creek Special Utility District is underway with many projects and is gearing up to change meters within its district. Distribution Administrative Supervisor Perry Day gave the general manager’s report at the June 16 board of directors meeting and started the report by sharing an update on the meter project.

Perry said there are currently 1,818 meters that are not Advanced Metering Infrastructure system in zone four. Of those, 1,650 are currently working well and 168 meters are not tracking well due to terrain issues; Perry said the solution is to add gateways onto the Anges Tank and Thomas Tank. Meters that still need to be changed out include 456 in zone two, 50 in zone three and 395 in zone four.

Perry reported to the board that 33 new meters had been set, 84 meters changed out and 320 Meter Interface Units were completed since the last board meeting May 19. Since the May meeting, 671 work orders were completed, 418 line locates were done and there have been seven water leaks which required boil water notices.
