Springtown ISD announced in its Summer Learning Spotlight Series that several Springtown High School students placed in the Interscholastic League Press Conference and the Texas Association of Journalism Educators. The announcement was made by Springtown ISD Director of Communications and Marketing Kendra Hutchison on the Springtown ISD Facebook page.

“We’re proud to shine a spotlight on our talented Springtown High School journalism students,” Hutchison said. The students recently attended the ILPC and TAJE summer workshop at Texas State University June 13-15.

The intensive workshop brought students from across the state to sharpen their skills in writing, photography, editing and media production — guided by both Texas and national awardwinning journalism advisors. The group was led by its advisor and SHS English Teacher Jana Hughes. The team brought home several impressive awards: Zumaya Gonzalez — Editor Award Medal Joey Rios — Third place in Current Events, Ace Interviewer and Journalism Award Medal Addison Zbynski — Award of Excellence in Yearbook Photography Crimson McClendon — Award of Excellence in UIL Journalism
