Springtown Park might get a new feature after Jessica Castro founder of We ARE Our Brothers Keeper, a drug overdose awareness and prevention organization, proposed a memorial bench to honor and recognize those who have passed away to drug overdose to the Springtown city council.
“I’m asking for a bench so families can go and remember the loved ones they have lost to addiction,” Castro said. “We do different things during the year to help bring awareness. But this would be a central spot to unify Springtown.”
Springtown Mayor Mike Kelley said he recommended the idea of a bench since a tree or a garden could wither away if not taken care of.
