It’s that time of the year again where school is just around the corner and school supplies are in high demand. To help parents and students in the Springtown area, We ARE Our Brothers Keeper, founded by Jessica Castro, hosted an annual back-toschool bash and school supply drive. The bash at Newby Pavilion in Springtown has become a yearly tradition to support the community. The event featured free haircuts, pictures with Santa and lots of school supplies for in-coming students.
“The back-to-school event and overdose memorial this year was particularly impactful,” Castro said. “Our community demonstrated remarkable kindness and love, ensuring all kids received what they needed and had a great time. We are extremely thankful for every donation and for the volunteers that came out.”
Castro said the event would not have been possible without the Parker County Hospital District, Bash’en 4 Sebastian (a fentanyl awareness group), Parker County Stand Up Against Suicide, Vacationing Santa, Frostys snow cones, Guardians of the Children, Big Sandy chapter, Layne Langston (Pro Max), Old Souls Ink (Weatherford) and JDS plumbing.
