Public hearings slated Aug. 28

The Springtown city council will hold public hearings to gather feedback from citizens regarding the proposed tax rate and budget for the next fiscal year during a special meeting Aug. 28. If no last-minute changes are made, the council expects to approve the budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The city council was presented an overview of the proposed fiscal budget for next year as part of the required process.

“This is a part of the process for budget approval,” City Administrator David Miller said. Assistant City Manager Christina Derr presented the proposed 2025-26 budget to the council during an Aug. 1 workshop. She explained that city staff has divided the proposed budget into four main categories with multiple subcategories: General fund: includes revenue projects, revenues by type, expenditures by department, surplus and built-in supplementals, department vs. general fund with supplementals and general fund expenditures by category.
