District demands accountability from big tech over growing youth mental health crisis
The Springtown Independent School District announced it has joined a nationwide lawsuit against significant social media companies like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube. The lawsuit seeks accountability against the media giants for creating addictive technologies that target students and contribute to the ever-grow- ing mental health crisis among children and teens.
Superintendent Shane Strickland emphasized that student’s well-being is the district’s ‘why’ behind every decision.
