How 9/11 inspired a career of service
On Sept. 11, 2001, at 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 crashes into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. All passengers aboard the airplane are instantly killed and employees of the World Trade Center are trapped above the 91st floor. At 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 crashes into the World Trade Center’s South Tower. All the passengers aboard are instantly killed and so are an unknown number of people in the tower.
A nation instantly changed. Yet this tragic event inspired a sense of patriotism in a generation that hadn’t been seen since Pearl Harbor. Clyde Klemke grew up in North Platte, Nebraska and knew he wanted to join law enforcement after high school.
