The Springtown Lady Porcupines showed grit and determination in their first district match Tuesday, Sept. 9, pushing the second-ranked Decatur Eagles in three tightly contested sets before falling 25-23, 26-24, 25-18.

Though the scoreline read 3-0, the Lady Pines were in every set from start to finish, battling in front of a spirited home crowd. Junior outside hitter Libby Tedder paced Springtown with 16 kills and 11 digs, while Natalia Del Valle added eight kills. Ryleigh Strickland and Olivia Williams chipped in six kills apiece.

“Each set was pretty tight,” head coach Abby Zipoy said. “The girls never backed down and we’ll take what we learned last night and use it to prepare for the next matchup, especially when we get them at home.”
