Springtown kids engineer strength using newspapers in STEM activity

Bridges and physics were the experiment of the day at the Springtown Legends Museum. On Friday, Sept. 12, local kids and museum coordinator Amy Hedges used old newspapers, tape and creativity to build a bridge to support rolls of pennies. The goal of the experiment was to teach kids how to build supportive structures to carry different amounts of weight. The experiment-based lessons at the museum, called “Spring into STEM,” are focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics often involving hands-on learning and activities for kids all ages. For more information about upcoming Spring into STEM activities, follow the Springtown Legends Museum on Facebook.
