Springtown defense, special teams shine as district play looms
The Springtown Porcupines remained unbeaten Friday night, traveling to China Spring and knocking off the Cougars 36-7 in nondistrict play. The victory moves Springtown to 4-0, the lone undefeated team remaining in the district.
Quarterback Kaine Hill paced the offense with 244 yards and two touchdowns on 16 completions. Running back Jon Lardizabal carried 13 times for 90 yards and was recognized as one of the offensive players of the game. He shared the honor with Christian Mendoza, who hauled in seven catches for 99 yards, and Karson Ferguson, who led all receivers with six catches for 131 yards.
