Springtown High School hosted its first college fair of the year Sept. 24, giving students and families a chance to explore future academic and career opportunities. There were 55 representatives from various colleges, trade schools, and military branches present to provide students with information about admissions, careers and training options.
“Sometimes a kid may not think about some of the opportunities that they have at these different places because they've never heard of them, or they didn't know they existed with the type of degree they wanted to get,” said Aimee Burtnett, college, career and military readiness counselor said. “So, it's an opportunity for them to walk through and talk to these reps and not have to travel somewhere that's right here in their own high school gym.”
This year marked a major change, as the fair was open not only to seniors but also to juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
