The Springtown City Council officially declared the month of October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month during a regularly scheduled meeting Sept. 25.

According to the proclamation read by Mayor Mike Kelley, the designation is to recognize the important work done by domestic violence programs and victim service providers.

In just one day across the United States and its territories, nearly 75,000 victims of domestic violence sought services from domestic violence programs and shelters. On that same day, more than 9,000 requests for services — including emergency shelter, housing, transportation, childcare and legal representation — could not be provided because programs lacked the necessary resources to meet victims’ needs.
