Springtown residents and visitors gathered at Newby Pavilion Tuesday, Oct.7 for National Night Out, a fun-filled event that gives the community a chance to meet its local police officers, firefighter and EMS personnel in a light-hearted, non-emergent setting — a contrast to the norm.
NNO is a nationwide event that happens on the second Tuesday in October in Texas — it’s observed in August across most of the nation — and aims at solidifying the relationship between law enforcement officers and the people they serve.
“It gives the community a chance to meet them outside of an emergency setting, learn what they do and connect with them on a personal level," said Springtown event coordinator Rachele Ortega. “It’s about building trust, appreciation and relationships that make Springtown such a special place,” she added.
