Servolution Network’s two-day fall “Blitz” came to a close this weekend, having served 18 area residents with much needed home renovations, attesting to its new vision statement of being “restorers of hope.”
Twice a year, in the spring and fall, Servolution Network, along with hundreds of volunteers and sponsors, dedicate themselves to serving their community by doing home renovations for the elderly, disabled veterans or those who otherwise cannot do for themselves. During the Blitz, a total of 18 homes were selected, including 11 in Azle, four in Springtown, one in Weatherford, one in Lake Worth and one home in Fort Worth.
U.S. Navy veteran and longtime Springtown resident Pete Strain was one of the selectees for this year’s Blitz. After moving into his home in 2017 he said he had “the oldest roof in the neighborhood,” but was not able to have it repaired. After learning about Servolution Network’s “Love your Vets” program through one of his co-workers, he decided to apply to have his roof repaired. Once the application was submitted at the beginning of the year, he got the call that things were set to go for October — with one added surprise. Strain said he knew the roof was going to be worked on but had no idea Home Depot (one of the sponsors) would be there as well, until he received a call from Servolution Network’s Bruce Adams asking if there was any other work that needed to be done to the home.
