The Springtown High School cross-country teams are headed to Lubbock after strong performances at the district meet, with both the varsity boys and girls earning trips to the Region 1 Championships. The Lady Porcupines finished as district runners-up, while the boys’ team claimed third place overall.
Springtown junior standout Madelyn Walker stole the show, winning the girls’ race outright with a blazing time of 12:11, crossing the finish line well ahead of the field. Head coach Raul Guerrero praised her performance, saying, “We blinked, and she was already done with her two miles.”
Walker wasn’t alone in leading the Lady Porcupines’ charge. Kerrington Edwards, Claire Cash, and Alyson Barco each placed inside the top 10, finishing eighth, ninth and 10th respectively — a dominant showing that secured Springtown’s runner-up team finish.
