A group of six young girls eagerly crossed a bridge as they were promoted from the rank of “Junior” to “Cadette,” transitioning into the next phase of their Girl Scout journey in a ceremony held at Springtown Park Thursday afternoon.

Members of Girl Scout Troop 2783 traded in their blue vests for brown sashes in anticipation of what’s to come as they march toward their three-year stint as Cadettes, continuing the Girl Scout mission to “build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.”

Troop leader Megan Edwards explained that a Cadette — girls in grades six through eight— is the only level of Girl Scouts that lasts three years, compared to all the others that are two years, proving that these next few years will prove monumental for this group.
