Voters across the state of Texas approved 17 constitutional amendments during the Nov. 4 election. Some of the amendments passed by somewhat narrow margins — Proposition 6, for example, passed by only 9.74% of the vote — while others were overwhelmingly approved. Proposition 10, which allows for a temporary exemption from ad valorem taxes for a residence homestead that has been destroyed by fire, was approved by a margin of 78.56%.
Below are the amendments by proposition number, the ballot language, the voting totals and percentages the votes represent:
Proposition 1: The constitutional amendment providing for the creation of the permanent technical institution infrastructure fund and the available workforce education fund to support the capital needs of educational programs offered by the Texas State Technical College System. The amendment was approved with 2,041,859 votes FOR or 69.03% versus 916,217 votes AGAINST or 30.97%.
