Springtown football showed grit, resilience and a relentless ground game Friday night, overcoming an early 21-7 hole to defeat Frisco Panther Creek 49-41 in the UIL Class 4A area round at the Birdville ISD Athletic Complex.

The Porcupines’ rushing attack proved unstoppable as senior running back Jon Lardizabal pounded out 187 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Kaine Hill provided steady balance, completing 12 of 17 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Panther Creek jumped on Springtown early, but the Porcupines clawed back behind a momentum-shifting run from Lardizabal, who broke free for 52 yards, setting up a 1-yard scoring plunge to close the gap to 21-14.
