James McVoid
James Coleman McVoid, 87, a lifelong resident of Springtown, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Jan. 9, surrounded by the love of his family.
Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Alexander's Midway Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 in Alexander's Midway Chapel; interment will follow at Springtown Cemetery.
James was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Parker County, the son of Adrian and Ina Ruth (Coleman) McVoid, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his beloved wife, Barbara (Haney) McVoid and son-in-law, Dale Carroll.
Throughout his life, James epitomized hard work and resourcefulness. His passion for welding and natural knack for fixing things made him a remarkable creative spirit who could transform ordinary items into something extraordinary. A true steward of the land, he found joy in tending to his garden and working with cattle, relishing moments spent sharing stories and creating memories with those he cherished. He was particularly renowned for his skill as a barbecue pit master, delighting friends and family alike with the delicious meats he prepared and the laughter he fostered around the smoker.
He is survived by his daughters: Jan McVoid and husband, Jim Thetford, Jamie Carroll, Julie McVoid and husband, Alberto Ramos, and Jennifer Barcroft and husband, Bart. He also leaves behind his brother, Bill McVoid and wife, Dorothy Kay; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jonathan) Bryant, Elizabeth (Sam) Satterfield, Heather (Duane) Phillips, Matt (Tosha) Carroll and Reegan Rodriguez; great-grandchildren: Jasper, Kyra, Kaydan, Sam, Koleman, Kampbell, Easton, James and Livian; and great-great-grandchildren, Emily and Michael, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
