Raymond 'Buster' Lance
Raymond “Buster” Lance Jr., 79, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Oct. 4, 2026, passing peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Raymond's life Friday, Oct. 9 at Ash Creek Cemetery Pavilion in Azle. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon.
Born Feb. 13, 1947, in Vernon to Raymond Lance Sr. and Adele Schulz Lance, Raymond was raised in Lockett. On June 7, 1969, he married the love of his life, Zerne Gafford, and together they built a life centered on faith, family and hard work.
A devoted Christian, Raymond always put God first. Known for his mechanical talent, he owned and operated an automotive repair shop in Springtown, where he earned a reputation for being able to fix anything. He loved fishing, gardening, farming, raising cattle and horses, playing the guitar and spending time with family. He was always ready for a new adventure and never met a stranger.
Raymond will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love of family, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lance Sr. and Adele Schulz Lance, and his sister, Cary Zaizek.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Zerne Lance; daughter, Tanicca Thorpe and husband Craig; son, Thomas Lance and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Brittani Thorpe and partner Sam Schachet, Sladen Lance and wife Whitney, Railey Lance, Brendan Letson, Zane Letson, Savannah Letso, and Haley Jones; great-grandchildren Samantha Schachet, Matthew Thorpe, Lincoln Schachet and Madden Letson; nephews Lance Woodward and wife Melissa, Waylon Woodward, Daniel Smith and wife Amy and Shawn Zaizek; niece Michelle Zaizek; great-nephews Jagger and Maverick Woodward and Nate Smith and wife Sydney; great-niece Taran Woodward, Johanna Perry and husband Cole; sisters Lynette Patterson and Priscilla Lance; and brothers Doug and Steve Lance.
