As all Texans know, springtime’s beautiful weather is often deterred by storms — often packing high winds, hail and even tornadoes — and knowing about impending danger is crucial for the safety of everyone at times.
The Springtown City Council announced at its Feb. 26 meeting it will provide a free Midland WR120B model NOAA NOAA weather radio to each household within the city. The radios are a part of the city’s StormReady Springtown initiative, which is designed to help Springtown families and residents stay informed of incoming severe weather.
While tornado sirens are designed to warn individuals outdoors to take cover during severe weather, NOAA radios alert people inside their homes. This is especially helpful for those who cannot hear outdoor sirens or when severe weather occurs in the middle of the night.
