Goshen Creek Elementary school teacher Heather Herring has been named a recipient of the Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers Award for the 2025–26 school year. Each year, Weatherford College selects one educator from participating school districts across its service area who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the classroom. Herring has also received her Master Teacher designation through the Teacher Incentive Allotment program.

“It is such an honor to be nominated for the Jack Harvey Award. I don't know many people that have received it so I was ecstatic to hear that I was going to get to join this elite group of individuals. Having been nominated by my principal really made me feel that she is proud of the work that I do in the classroom,” said Herring.

Herring grew up with a natural interest in becoming a teacher. She originally enrolled in college as “undecided” to explore different options for her career choice. After exploring options, her passion further cemented that she was a teacher.
