Following a lengthy executive session during its March 16 city council meeting, the City of Reno voted to post the position of police chief. The job will be posted for up to 30 days but may close earlier if the city receives a sufficient number of applications. The city is also accepting volunteers to serve on a panel to screen applications.

City officials said they hope to begin interviews within two weeks as applications are received. They noted a decision will not be made within that timeframe but that the screening process will occur as applications come in. Those interested in serving on the screening panel are encouraged to attend a 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall next Tuesday, March 24.

Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter and resume to the city secretary at [email protected].
