No one enjoys receiving a traffic violation, just as much as no one likes seeing an animal go without adequate food, comfort or shelter.
In an effort to turn a negative experience into a positive outcome for the community, the Springtown Police Department and its animal shelter have come together to launch Paw Patrol, a citywide initiative that allows residents to donate much needed items to the local animal shelter in exchange for the dismissal of a minor traffic citation.
Similar in spirit to the city’s recent “Ticket for Toys” program, Paw Patrols offers an alternative resolution for certain nonsevere traffic violations. If an officer issues a citation for a minor violation, the individual may opt to provide a qualifying donation to the shelter rather than proceed through the traditional penalty process.
