Sydney Arnold earned first place in fingerprint collection and analysis at the Texas Public Safety Association Conference and Competition, a weekend-long competition held in Galveston March 30 through April 2. The achievement highlights Arnold’s steady improvement and daily practice throughout the year.

Arnold, a sophomore, initially developed an interest in investigative work through a desire to become a detective, drawn to solving puzzles and watching crime shows.

After learning more about the career path to becoming a detective, she began to take interest in forensic science since she was primarily interested in working in a lab setting.
