Local food trucks, restaurants and community groups have mobilized across Springtown in the days following the recent severe weather to provide free meals throughout the week to residents, volunteers and first responders.

Santiago Quirarte Jr., owner of Tacos Don Chago and AV Ranch Western Wear, was one of the first local businesses to begin providing food to those affected by the storm, despite receiving significant damage to his own store property.

“We just came in and got together with my dad and family,” Quirarte said as he served tacos on the Springtown Square. “We wanted to give back to the community. They’ve been good to us, so we just want to give back to them. Things got wild for us, but when you drive around in the neighborhoods and you see people that actually lost everything — it’s kind of like ‘We didn’t lose anything. We just lost a little bit.’ So, we’ll give them (tacos) away.”
