The Reno City Council approved two temporary measures during its Monday, May 11 meeting as officials continue addressing the city’s financial situation.
After presenting the city’s current budget, Mayor Hector Bas said the city is spending more money than it is generating, which is negatively impacting the general fund.
Bas said auditors reviewing previous city audits informed officials the water fund owes the general fund approximately $828,213 related to a tax note taken out under previous city leadership that was not properly accounted for during financial transfers in 2024.
