Locals gathered at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Springtown Saturday, May 23 to honor fallen service members and veterans during Springtown’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.
Mayor Mike Kelley opened the ceremony by recognizing the sacrifices made by members of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives while serving their country.
“Lord, today we especially remember those who gave their lives defending this nation and the liberties of other nations around the world,” Kelley said during the invocation. “We honor the young men and women who answered the call of duty willingly, placing themselves in harm’s way to confront evil, to defend the freedom and to protect those who could not protect themselves.”
