The communities of Azle and Springtown are home to many hidden gems — residents whose life stories, talents and experiences are quietly kept within area. One of those residents is Malone Samuels, a prolific working artist and teacher whose life journey began in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Samuels said his mother, a public-school art teacher, was his first influence who gave him his first art books and initial guidance.
“There were a number of books my mother had,” Samuels said as he listed a variety of notable art instruction books from Andrew Loomis, Burne Hogarth and David K. Rubins.
