Local teenagers interested in emergency services, public safety, or learning valuable life-saving skills will have an opportunity to learn directly from first responders through a new summer program organized by the Springtown Legends Museum and local first responders.

The Springtown First Responder Camp is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday, July 13-18; applicants who are accepted will receive the location of the camp in their packet. The camp is for youth ages 13 to 18 and will introduce participants to careers in emergency services while providing hands-on training and educational experiences led by local agencies.

“During recent emergency response efforts in our area, many young people expressed interest in learning more about how first responders operate and how they help during emergencies,” said Museum Coordinator Amy Hedges, who also serves as an organizer for the camp. “This camp creates an opportunity to turn that curiosity into a hands-on learning experience.”
