Parents and children gathered at the Springtown Legends Museum Wednesday, June 10 for one of the museum’s first free educational summer activities — creating a tin punch lantern.

The hands-on activity educated participants about how pioneers once crafted decorative lighting from tin materials. Children selected lantern patterns, punched a design into heavy-duty aluminum foil, and placed battery-operated candles inside to recreate the look of a traditional lantern.

Elizabeth Taylor, a 16-year Springtown resident, said she appreciates having free, family-friendly activities available in the community.
