The Springtown Police Department received $27,299.95 in grant funding from the Law Enforcement Charitable Foundation to purchase protective shields for officers to use as they protect and serve all seven Springtown schools.

The grant award, presented in partnership with RTS Tactical, will help the department buy full-body protective shields designed to give officers more coverage during emergency responses on school campuses.

Drew Dorans, president of the Law Enforcement Charitable Foundation, said the foundation focuses on supporting smaller and local police departments that may have limited access to funding.
