The legend of the Hill Family Gang

The legend of the Hill Family Gang
The Springtown Legends Museum preserves a tree branch believed to be tied to the hanging of Nancy Hill, one of the most infamous figures in the Hill Family Gang.

Author: Jose 'JJ' Balderas

Before Springtown became an established city, lawlessness was rampant throughout Parker County and gave rise to the infamous Hill Family Gang.

According to research documents by late Springtown historian Laurie Moseley III and a Parker County historian known only as Glynda, Allen C. Hill settled with his family south of what later became Springtown in the 1850s.

The family included his wife, Dusky, two sons and six daughters, including Nancy Hill.
