As the Springtown Independent School District prepares for the 2026-27 school year, campus principals are ready to welcome students and lead their schools into another exciting and successful year. Meet the administrative team serving each campus.
JAMIE STURDIVANT: SPRINGTOWN HIGH SCHOOL
Jamie Sturdivant will begin her second year as principal of Springtown High School and her 34th year in education. She spent seven years as a teacher and is beginning her 27th year as an administrator.
“I am looking forward to having all students, faculty and staff back on campus for the 2026-27 school year,” Sturdivant said. “SHS is a great campus with unique traditions and school spirit. My goal is to graduate students who are ready for whatever the future holds. I am excited to be part of their journey.”
BRITTNEY CHAVEZ: SPRINGTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Brittney Chavez will serve as principal of Springtown Middle School as she begins her fourth year at the campus and her 11th year with SISD.
Throughout her 18 years in education, Chavez has taught at the university, community college, high school and middle school levels. She has taught English, professional communications and AVID and has coached volleyball and track.
“I am a proud Springtown High School graduate, and I feel absolutely blessed to serve the community I grew up in,” she said.
JOE BROWN: SPRINGTOWN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Joe Brown is starting his 31st year serving the Springtown community and has been part of Springtown Intermediate School since 2001. The 2026-27 school year marks his 22nd year as principal.
Brown said this will be a “special year” as the campus prepares to transition into a sixth-grade-only campus next year.
“I continue to feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, staff and families of SIS,” he said. “I am excited to continue building on many positive initiatives we have started over the past several years while looking for ways to grow and improve as a campus.”
AMBERLIE THOMAS: SPRINTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Amberlie Thomas is beginning her 21st year in education and her third year as principal of Springtown Elementary School. She finds joy in working alongside students and teachers, helping them learn, grow and succeed.
Thomas said she looks forward to a wonderful school year, seeing students and staff enjoy the recently renovated campus.
WENDY ASHLEY: GOSHEN CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Wendy Ashley will serve as principal of Goshen Creek Elementary School as she begins her 26th year in education.
She has dedicated her entire career to serving SISD, where she spent 18 years teaching kindergarten through third grade and physical education before transitioning into campus leadership.
Ashley is passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape her and believes there is no greater privilege than making a positive difference in the lives of students, staff and families each day.
JENNA SHOWERS: LITTLETON SPRINGS ELEMENTARY
Jenna Showers is beginning her 20th year in education and a new chapter as principal of Littleton Springs Elementary, which is currently under construction.
During the 2026-27 school year, Showers will help design, plan and prepare Littleton Springs Elementary for its opening in the 2027-28 school year.
After 10 years as a teacher in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, Showers joined SISD and served two years as assistant principal and seven years as principal of Reno Elementary School.
“I look forward to working alongside our staff, students and families as we build Littleton Springs from the ground up and create a school where everyone feels connected, supported and proud to belong,” she said.
Candie THOMPSON: RENO ELEMENTARY
Candie Thompson will serve as the new principal of Reno Elementary.
Born and raised in Springtown, Thompson began her teaching career with the district in 2011 as a second-grade teacher.
After working as an elementary teacher at several school districts, Thompson returned to SISD in 2022 as an assistant principal at Springtown Middle School before becoming principal of Reno Elementary School.
“As we begin the upcoming year, I look forward to welcoming our students and staff, celebrating successes together and creating meaningful learning experiences that make this our best year yet,” she said.
ANDREW HORIS: PORCUPINE ACADEMY
Andrew Horis is beginning his 13th year in education and his fourth year as Principal of Alternative Campuses and District Testing Coordinator. He previously worked as a teacher, coach, instructional coach and assistant principal.
“I’m most excited to have the opportunity to make the school day a little more enjoyable for students and colleagues alike, which I recognize is ironic given my heavy involvement in state testing,” Horis said.
